Trademark Registration

Requirements:

  • The applicant's particulars: name, address and nationality
  • Notarized and legalized Power of Attorney up to the Saudi Consulate in the domicile of the applicant.
  • Classes and specification of goods/services
  • A copy of the trademark
  • Original Certified Copy of Priority application (if required) shall be provided within 6 months of the foreign filing. No need for legalization.
Time for trademark registration: 4~5 months

Note:

  • Extra fees for long Goods/Services
  • Multiple class registration is not available
  • No extra fees for color/design mark
  • Home/Foreign Registration not required

Trademark Search

  • A copy of the trademark
  • Classes of goods/services
Time for conducting a trademark search: 24~48 hours

Patent Registration

Requirements:

  • The applicant's particulars: name, gender, P.O. box, email, address, phone, mobile and fax numbers, and nationality
  • The inventor's particulars: name, gender, P.O. box, email, address, phone, mobile and fax numbers, and nationality
  • If the patent application contains more than one graphical description/drawings, the main graphical description/drawing should be pointed out
  • Notarized and legalized Power of Attorney up to the Saudi Consulate in the domicile of the applicant
  • Notarized and legalized Deed of Assignment up to the Saudi Consulate if the applicant is not the inventor
  • Certified copy of priority application
  • PCT National Phase: Available

Industrial Design Registration

Requirements:

  • The applicant's particulars: name, gender, P.O. box, email, address, phone, mobile and fax numbers, and nationality
  • The inventor's particulars: name, gender, P.O. box, email, address, phone, mobile and fax numbers, and nationality
  • If the design application contains more than one graphical descriptions/drawings, the main graphical description/drawing should be pointed out
  • A brief description of the Industrial Design which is to be registered
  • Notarized and legalized Power of Attorney up to the Saudi Consulate in the domicile of the applicant
  • Notarized and legalized Deed of Assignment up to the Saudi Consulate if the applicant is not the designer
  • Certified copy of priority application (if claimed)

Saudi Arabia: Subject to presenting a valid excuse, the Saudi patent office (SPO) has approved an extension of time for claiming priority in entering the national phase for the PCT applications. The Applications will be afforded the opportunity to file their late applications claiming their earliest priority. It's worth mentioning that the applicant must mention the reasons that made him unable to file his application within the thirty (30) month deadline.
